Health Technologies

Health Science Technologies provides the student with the skills necessary for employment as a nurse assistant, medical assistant, or healthcare worker. In addition to this, skills are also taught that will
prepare the student to work in other related health facilities such as medical laboratories, veterinarian offices, physical therapy departments, nursing homes, and hospitals. Algebra and Biology are
prerequisites for this program.

During Level 1 students work in a well-equipped laboratory and are introduced to the various procedures they will be performing when employed. Students learn skills such as total patient care, first aid, medical laboratory tests, and many other procedures are taught and practiced by the students. In the Health Technologies program students preform long-term care clinicals and hospital job shadowing during the spring of their junior year. During level 2 students receive on-the-job training. The facilities in which they may work include hospitals, nursing homes, health laboratories, and medical or dental offices, and other medical-related job areas. Chemistry and algebra are essential for entrance to collegiate programs.

As students progress in their program they may be eligible to take part in our robust work placement program. While on work placement, students are employed at local healthcare facilities and obtain skills while working alongside professionals in the industry.

Students in the health sciences program are eligible for almost 30 college credits through an articulation agreement with North Central State College
